2024 Ford Edge this time has entered the final stage. It seems that Ford is not bringing back its midsize SUV despite selling well.
Whereas at the beginning the brand confirmed that 2023 really was the end of the era of Ford Edge production in North America and this news shocked loyal Ford Edge crossover fans.
It’s interesting to note that the electric vehicle segment is becoming a high-demand automotive sector right now, with several EVs debuting over the last few years, and more to come in the near future. With this information, it is likely that Ford has big electrification plans for the future.
So far the brand has released great EVs like the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning. Ford looks set to give up conventional gas-powered vehicles and take more of the EV route in the future.
Ford will begin retooling the plant in 2024 in preparation for its upcoming EV production. The new electric vehicle will start rolling out in 2025 and will be sold for the same model year.
2024 Ford Edge Review
The Ford Edge will leave the US, but China will get a new one for 2024. EcoBoost 2.0L and Hybrid are expected. Like the current Chinese Edge, it is also a 3-Line utility.
Although we miss the Edge, it will be the base for the Lincoln Nautilus 2024 which will be a Chinese import in December 2023. The new Nautilus will use the same base, 2.0L, and Hybrid. It’s based on the C2, Ford’s most productive and flexible platform ever.
The 2024 Ford Edge is likely to be the case with several other Blue Oval models including the Escort and Mondeo for the next generation Ford Edge to be present in China as the model has already appeared on the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology website.
China’s new-generation Ford Edge takes the stylistic direction of the country’s current automaker in a number of ways, including its front end, which features slimmer headlights and a front grille design similar to the China-only Evos, as well as the updated Ford Explorer.
Other modern styling cues include flat-mounted door handles, “folds” at the bottom of the doors that streamline the look of the crossover, and a new, sleeker taillight design at the rear.
Available in five- and seven-seater configurations, China’s new-generation Ford Edge outperforms the Explorer in terms of size, as we can see in the chart above.

It’s also significantly longer than the current-gen Edge, as well as nearly two inches wider, and an inch and a half taller, while the crossover’s powerplant – the same turbocharged Ford 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost as the current-gen Edge – delivers two horsepower. less, quite interesting.
While this particular vehicle likely won’t be coming to the US as the Edge, it’s possible that we could get a preview of the Ford Fusion Active, a crossover that was last seen in prototype form by Ford Authority spies back in May.
The model also features some stylistic cues like the Evos, which has been found on the Mondeo, and the China-only Lincoln Zephyr – both of which were also leaked via China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology website shortly before their official reveal as well.

Next Generation Ford Edge Report
The report we got from Brett Foote in the Ford Authority (FA) online media revealed that the next-generation Ford Edge has been scrapped in a surprising move apparently driven by labor negotiations over the future of the Ford Oakville Assembly Plant where the Lincoln Nautilus is also built.
Ford and Canadian union Unifor have finally reached an agreement that will see the Oakville factory retooled to produce five new EVs from 2025 apparently leaving a pair of crossovers in limbo.
The FA also mentions that the Ford Edge will indeed be discontinued in North America after the 2023 model year.
2024 Ford Edge Price
The 2024 Ford Edge Crossover appears to have dropped the front-wheel-drive configuration and will only be available with an all-wheel drive. As a result, our price estimates for the crossover have increased by around $3,000 overall.
