The new 2025 Ford Super Duty will come in three models: F-250, F-350, and F-450. The most potent version can tow up to 40,000 pounds and carry 8,000 pounds of cargo. If that sounds good, but a little luxury could make the work more pleasant, purchasers can opt for several extras, like a two-tone leather interior and comfy Max Recline chairs that let you take a little nap when the boss is away.

By the way, this 2024 or 2025 model year Ford F-150 presented unofficially is the Lariat version of the popular truck series. Moving forward, if the Blue Oval Company doesn’t surprise us with a quick revelation of the facelifted model, they will also strive to (hypothetically) depict all other trims (Platinum, Raptor, etc.) so that we can CGI-grade them according to our personal preferences. Cool, right?

2025 Ford Super Duty Exterior

The Super Duty appears big and tough with its prominent, square grille and side marker lights resembling C-clamps. It also looks like its F-150 sister. Even though these trucks are large, the longest F-150 is still a few inches shorter than the smallest Super Duty. The longest Super Duty is 38 inches longer than the longest F-150 at 266.2 inches (nearly 22 feet). So, it’s essential to know the size of your garage.

The Regular Cab only has an 8-foot bed, but the F-450 can add a dually configuration to this mix. The SuperCab and Crew Cab variants are available with either a long bed or a 6 feet 3 inches long bed. The F-250 has a single-rear-wheel drive arrangement, and the F-350 adds a dual-rear-wheel drive option.

All F-450 trucks have two drive systems. The wheels and grille designs change depending on the trim. Ford also offers the Tremor Off-Road option for XLT and higher models. This kit has a higher suspension, skid plates, 35-inch off-road tires, 18-inch black wheels, and a unique front fascia.

The inside of the 2025 Ford Super Duty is a big step up from the last model. The inside hasn’t changed much, but how the controls are laid out has altered slightly, making everything more straightforward to see and access. There are still separate radio and air conditioning controls, so you can change the temperature without taking your eyes off the road.

Some buttons are linked to the touchscreen, but the system works effectively, making the menus easy to find. In general, it’s pretty easy to figure out where each part is and how its functions work.

The cabin is also big enough to fit a key NBA player. Either row of seats should have enough room for your head, legs, and shoulders. Even with the standard folding running boards on our King Ranch, getting in and out of the cabin is hard because it’s so high.

But once you’re inside, it’s easy to establish a comfortable driving posture because the pedals, seat and steering wheel can be moved a lot.

Visibility from the outside is quite good, at least for a heavy-duty truck. There are blind areas, but most versions have cameras and sensors to help you see better. Ford even has cameras and parking sensors that work when the back doors open, like when moving an oversized cargo. The driver can also use surround-view cameras and an extra camera for the trailer.

Those in the market for the base XL trim should prepare for a fairly spartan cabin, but from there, the Super Duty’s lineup features a more fashionable environment. Better convenience and luxury features become available through the various trims. Ford has engineered front seats that can recline to a nearly flat position so drivers can properly rest when stopped overnight on long-haul drives.

Buyers can choose a regular cab, an extended SuperCab, or a four-door SuperCrew cab and two bed sizes (a 6.8-footer or an eight-foot box). The Super Duty’s many cubbies and versatile trays are highlighted by a massive center-console bin on models with bucket seats. The crew cab takes storage further with a lockable box under the rear seat.

The newest Super Duty has cutting-edge technology and several sophisticated functions that help the driver. Most versions come with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard. The digital instrument panel and head-up display show crisp, simple-to-read maps and turn-by-turn directions that make it easy to find your way around.

Without wires: All versions come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and there are many USB charging connections. A few variants additionally come with two regular 120-volt outlets for the home. The B&O audio system in our King Ranch model was one of the greatest we’ve ever heard in a pickup truck.

The F-250 has many features that help the driver, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, a surround-view camera system, and automatic emergency braking. All of them are straightforward to use and work effectively in real life.

We detected no reading problems in the emergency braking system or collision warning. The adaptive cruise control mode can keep a safe distance and stop the car entirely.

2025 Ford Super Duty Comfort

Pickup vehicle comfort is much better now than it was a few years ago. We wouldn’t say the F-250 is opulent or high-end, but it’s comfy on the highway, even for lengthy excursions, especially in higher trims like our King Ranch test vehicle. The seats are a little flat, but they are well-padded and cushioned. We didn’t have any back or butt ache on extended trips. The same is true in the back, where a flat yet comfy bench folds down to make more room for cargo. The ride is a little rough, but that’s what we anticipate from this class.

The temperature control system is frigid, and the heated seats warm rapidly. American car companies indeed are the best at this. We don’t like the climate control controls because some settings and information, like the cabin temperature, are on the touchscreen. That’s our only considerable criticism.

The 2025 Ford Super Duty F-250 we have works great on the road. The diesel engine makes some noise, but it’s not too loud to talk over. There isn’t much noise from the wind or the road, but the tires are loud at highway speeds.

2025 Ford F250: Infotainment and Connectivity

The base XL trim has an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while more expensive models get a larger 12.0-inch display. A reconfigurable 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster is also available. A pair of large volume and tuning knobs, as well as other physical buttons on the steering wheel, make the system feel intuitive.

The rest of the lineup features a 12.0-inch touchscreen with Sync 4 software, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Larger cabs can have enough accessory outlets to light up a Guns N’ Roses concert, including up to two 110-volt power points. All models come with a Bang & Olufsen–tuned stereo system. The Super Duty’s best engine, the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8, can be put in any F-250, F-350, or F-450. This gasoline engine makes 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. There are also low- and high-power versions that make 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque.

Customers can choose between a single or dual rear axle, and a reliable 10-speed automatic transmission handles gear changes for either arrangement. Super Duty also has an off-road package dubbed Tremor that includes a lift kit and tougher tires, which makes the truck suitable for off-road use.

This tough Ford works like a big truck pulling up to 19 tons. Its ride is stiff and bumpy when the truck bed is empty, but that feeling goes away when the bed is filled or a trailer is attached. Even the more expensive trim levels do a better job of blocking wind and road noise.

The brake pedal on the truck we drove was solid and responsive, and the steering was easy to handle at low speeds and confined areas where even the most extended versions have trouble turning.

A dutiful 10-speed automatic transmission handles gear changes for every configuration, and customers can choose between single- and dual-rear-wheel axles. The Super Duty also offers an off-road package called Tremor that adds a lift kit, meatier tires, and other trail-ready upgrades. These heavy-duty Fords perform as one expects big rigs made to tow up to 19 tons would.

The ride is stiff and bouncy when unladen, but those sensations smooth out when the bed is loaded up or a trailer is hooked on. The fanciest trims do a better job of muting wind and road noise on the highway. The trucks we drove bounced from firm and responsive brake pedals, and their steering was manageable at low speeds and in tight spaces where maneuvering the longest models can be difficult. At our track, our diesel-powered F-250 Platinum Tremor test truck reached 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds.

2025 Ford Super Duty Payload

The F-250 has significant payload and towing capabilities, which is what you’d expect from a heavy-duty pickup truck. The highest weight it can carry is thought to be more than 4,200 pounds (regular cab with standard V8 gasoline engine), but most configurations can hold between 3,000 and 4,000 pounds. A regular trailer can tow up to 22,000 pounds, and a gooseneck trailer can tow up to 23,000 pounds. Most setups can hold between 14,000 and 20,000 pounds. These numbers suit their class but are always competitive with other pickup trucks.

The cabin’s freight and storage room is just as strong. Many drawers and storage spaces exist for tiny things like cell phones, sunglasses, and more. There are little pockets throughout the place.

We were impressed with the cup holders. There are many of them, and the ones in front are big enough to hold a big water bottle. The Ford doesn’t have a folding panel like the Ram to provide a flat cargo floor in the back, but you can still fold down the seats to make a lot of room for things within the cabin.

If you don’t need all the room, the split-folding back seats also let you place people in the back. Putting the car seat in should be relatively easy; however, the truck straight forward might be a problem for ceproblematicple.

2025 Ford Super Duty Performance

The 2025 Ford Super Duty F-250 we drove had a 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8 engine with a lot of power, with a whopping 1,200 lb-ft of torque. It went from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, a little slower than the last F-250 we tested, but it’s still a good car in its class.

The engine runs smoothly, and the 10-speed transmission never seems out of gear or mis-shifted. We don’t think the F-250 will have any trouble or be too much for it when towing or hauling.

The F-250’s steering and handling are normal for a heavy-duty pickup, which means they are soft and a little jerky. It’s easy to spin the steering wheel, but the truck doesn’t respond very well when you do. For example, you’ll need to turn the steering wheel a lot to keep the truck under control in a parking lot. The F-250 does tilt in turns, but it is stable enough not to shake on tiny roadways.

2025 Ford F250: Towing and Payload Capacity

The Super Duty boasts a maximum payload capacity of 8000 pounds and can tow up to 40,000 pounds with a gooseneck-equipped trailer truck. The SupIttable for up to 1conventional towing 3,700 pounds for the coetomaker has outfitted the car with trailer-assist features.

To manage all that weight, they have onboard scales with STo Hitch, which weigh, among other things, in real-time conventional towing time and calculate in real traditional towing. Trailer assists in determining travel routes based on trailer dimensions.

Platinum Plus

Ford states that Platinum Plus is meant to “enhance the Super Duty experience with premium features.” The Platinum Plus has a special two-tone Smoked Truffle interior with perforated Venetian leather upholstery and Platinum Blue French stitching. The outside has a satin-finish grille with dazzling chrome accents and unique wheels.

Ford hopes that “enhanced ownership benefits and personalized service” will bring in more people who want to upgrade their next car to tow a speedboat, a luxury fifth wheel, or a trailer for multiple horses.

The personalized service includes a 25% discount on Ford accessories, the ability to email a product specialist directly, a private virtual tour that explains the vehicle’s characteristics, and an immediate upgrade to Blue Tier status in the FordPass Rewards program. You can also get a cedar Platinum Plus gift box.

Ford showed off the 2025 F-350 Platinum Plus with the FX4 off-road package at a media event in Dearborn this week. The truck starts at $107,770. A combination lock box is under the center armrest, and the interior is lovely. The roof is made of microsuede, the doors and center armrest have matte wood inserts, and the seats are quilted leather.

All Platinum Plus trucks have a powerful 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel engine that makes 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque. This main engine, which can be added as an option to other trims, costs an incredible $12,995.

The Super Duty can tow up to 30,000 pounds with a standard towbar, 35,000 pounds with a fifth-wheel towbar, and 40,000 pounds with a gooseneck (F-450 regular cab only).

The Platinum Plus package costs $6,500 and is only available on Platinum-specified crew-cab Super Duty trucks. The F-250 starts at $97,360, the F-350 at $98,860, and the F-450 at $103,535 for the Platinum Plus price.

A 6.8-liter pushrod V8 gasoline engine (405 hp and 445 lb-ft, standard on XL, XLT, and Lariat), a 7.3-liter pushrod V8 gasoline engine (430 hp and 485 lb-ft, standard on King Ranch and Platinum), and a Power Stroke diesel engine (optional on all trims in two states of tune) are also available for the Super Duty. A heavy-duty 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission is connected to all of the engines.

Lariat FX4

This week, we got to drive a 2025 Super Duty Lariat 4×4 crew cab with FX4 off-road wheels and a powerful 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine that makes the back tires rattle when you turn and speed up on divided roads.

The caramel and black two-tone interior is more work-oriented and less visually pleasing than the Smoked Truffle perforated Venetian Leather without the Platinum Plus package. However, it’s still classy for a pickup.

The truck is nice to drive, quiet, and comfy; however, there are two strange problems that should be addressed.

The center armrest on this Lariat trim is a complex, flat piece of plastic that is great for signing papers or eating lunch while you work. You can slide it forward until it almost touches the instrument panel.

But the firm surface isn’t a good place to rest your elbows. You may also turn the work surface with a lever, but only a few inches to the left, which seems unnecessary. You can get a padded armrest, which would make driving more pleasant.

Another problem is the second-row dual-port cup holders, which pull out from the base of the center armrest between the two front seats. The second row has a thick rubber mat on the floor that does a great job of keeping the inside clean. However, the mat is too thick for the cup holders to sit flush, so drinks can spill.

The top-of-the-line Limited trim is no longer available. But this is part of a slight change to the trim levels. The Platinum trim now comes with a new Platinum Plus package. The Platinum model now comes with a Black Onyx cabin with Platinum Blue highlights, body-color door handles, and black graphics on the grille and tailgate as part of this update. The Platinum Plus package comes with a turbodiesel engine, a satin-finish grille and other exterior highlights, a Smoked Truffle interior, and several luxury features. This trim is now basically the best one you can have.

The XLT and higher trim levels now come in two new paint colors: Avalanche and Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat. The Technology package also includes Mera, tire pressure monitoring for the trailer tires, and a blind-spot alert that considers the trailer.

The base model of the 2025 Ford F350 Super Duty Regular Cab costs $48,690, while the top-of-the-line F350 Super Duty Regular Cab XLT costs $54,695. However, Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing says that prices are currently $1,461 to $1,904 lower than the suggested retail price, depending on the trim and equipment. These prices change weekly.

The 4-wheel-drive Crew Cab Lariat is the most popular model in the Super Duty series, followed by the 4-wheel-drive Crew Cab XL.

The Super Duty starts at $47,295, the Ram HD at $47,245, the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD at $46,395, and the GMC Sierra HD at $48,295.

Since the EPA doesn’t test vehicles as heavy as the Super Duty and its gargantuan competitors, we judge them based on our testing. On our 75-mph highway fuel economy route, the F-250 diesel we tested returned 20 mpg.

The EPA doesn’t require heavy-duty trucks like the Super Duty to have fuel economy estimations that the EPA has validated. This is also true for Chevy, GMC, and Ram pickups. Our powerful V8 diesel got roughly 14.5 miles per gallon in normal city driving. That’s about the same as what we’ve observed in other companies, but a lot worse than what we’ve seen in light vehicles like Ford’s F-150.

Competitor

There aren’t many other options save for the F-250 Super Duty. The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD both have superior towing technology and high towing and payload capacities, but the Super Duty is still better than both of them.

The Ram 2500 is an excellent alternative if you don’t require the F-250 or GM’s heavy-duty vehicles’ huge towing and payload capacities.
