That’s right, this pixel expert thinks the Ford Mustang S650 could help the passenger car space by reviving the Fusion name. Originally, the mid-size sedan was produced for 15 years, from 2005 to 2020, across two generations at the Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly plant in Sonora, Mexico, alongside the Lincoln MKZ and Mercury Milan, which were based on the same Ford CD3 architecture.
The latter was short-lived (until 2011), but the Fusion and MKZ continued until their retirement in 2020 when it became clear that Ford Motor Company was heading in one direction: to phase out all but one passenger car nameplate. Well, now it’s time for the return of the Ford Fusion in CGI form as a sedan with a fastback-like styling profile (it even has a CGI ducktail spoiler) that borrows and adapts the look of the Ford F-150 pickup truck, more specifically, the front fascia and LED headlights plus taillights from the F-150 Tremor model, hence the orange detailing on the grille.
It’s an interesting take on the subject, but we’re pretty sure it’s just wishful thinking. After all, even General Motors is discontinuing its still-popular Chevrolet Malibu midsize sedan this fall despite selling 93,000 units in the first nine months of this year.

Not long ago, the pixel wizards decided to give us a 2025 Ford Mustang GT coupe utility based on the FG-generation XR Ute that looks like an early 1990s car headed for a lightning meeting with the 21st century.
However, many fans decided to buy it in a heartbeat despite its odd appearance. So, it makes sense that CGI experts took the Ford Mustang GT S650-Australian seventh-generation Ford Falcon mix one step further and released the sedan for a second virtual date.
Thus, its latest CGI design project is the return of the Ford Fusion with sporty ST traits and with rear-wheel drive V8 traits based on Australian Falcon DNA.
