2026 Ford Bronco: In 2021, Ford brought back the famous Bronco nameplate by showing off an SUV full of history and tough hardware. There are a lot of two- and four-door versions of the contemporary Bronco, and they are all designed to be fun to drive. The Jeep Wrangler, Toyota 4Runner, and Honda Passport TrailSport are all competitors of the Bronco.

The entertaining Ford Bronco is easy to like but hard to love. It has a lot of charm but not enough substance.

The Bronco is superb off-road because it has a great factory setup and many features that help it navigate tough terrain. To really enjoy nature, take off the doors and roof.

The Bronco has a hard time on the pavement. It doesn’t drive very well, and the cabin gets loud at higher speeds. Ford’s tech features are helpful, but the Bronco’s tough design and bad gas mileage make it less appealing. Crossovers, especially those tuned for off-road use, are easier to live with on a daily basis.

Ford Bronco 60th Anniversary May Be Revealed in August. The sixth-generation Ford Bronco comes out for the 2021 model year after being gone for 25 years. However, as many know, the tough SUV was first made for the 1966 model year. So, 2026 will be a very important year for the Ford Bronco because it will be 60 years since its first model came out. It’s not hard to guess that The Blue Oval is working on something to celebrate. That might be the case, since the official Ford Bronco Instagram account tweeted an interesting story that hinted at a 60th anniversary model being in the works.

Bronco Nation got a screenshot of this teaser: “Ford celebrates Bronco: 60 years of capability and adventure, August 1st-2nd, 2025, Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Michigan.” The story also included a countdown timer that said people could sign up to attend this event in just over 21 days. The background picture used in the narrative is of a white Ford Bronco fender with a red and black logo that says, “Bronco Est. 1966.”

We already know that the Michigan Bronco Club is throwing a 60th birthday party for the Bronco at Silver Lake on this day. This has been planned for a while. Ford will probably deliver a unique version to help celebrate the event, and we think it will be a 60th anniversary edition.

2026 Ford Bronco Gets Retro-Inspired Digital Makeover to Spark Mixed Feelings

Do you think the contemporary Ford Bronco might look too modern (d’oh! And disrespect some of its predecessors? But you are not alone; a few rendering participants also started working on design corrections.

The design came to social media as jlord8, the pixel artist behind the bold approach to the next-gen Ford Bronco, has proposed a retro-style off-roader that looks nothing like the actual vehicle. Considering the number of changes, this might be considered a different version.

The first thing you’ll notice when you see this reinvented Ford Bronco is its distinctive body style. It has two doors, redesigned rear quarter panels, a tank top, special trim on the sides to the rear, and a revamped front fascia. Apart from fresh trim on the front fenders and a new set of rearview mirror casings, the rear appears to have changed.

The recommended master rendering selects a dark gray with brown on the top and other exterior components, such as the side trim and wheels, creating contrast in the overall appearance. The rest of the off-road section has a black aesthetic. The Blue Oval company logo is also visible on the wheel center caps and the grille. As sad as it is, this is where the CGI work stops. Looking back will be as amazing as looking inward.

Under the hood, something like this will covet a V8 motor, although we wouldn’t mind a Raptor variant either. The latter will transfer power to four-wheel drive via a ten-speed automatic transmission using a 3.0L V6 engine with 418 horsepower (424 ps/312 kW) on premium fuel.

Assuming the 2026 Ford Bronco Raptor starts at $90,035, minus dealer and destination fees, the same as the 2024 model, a potential retro version of the Bronco would cost more. However, we enjoyed the unofficial changes and believe that, with a few tweaks here and there, you will too.

2026 Ford Bronco Interior

The Ford Bronco provides the same open-air opportunities that satisfy outdoor enthusiasts like the Wrangler by leaving the doors and roof panels removed. There are some further advances on the inside of the Ford than on the Jeep. For example, the Bronco’s dashboard shelf on top allows GoPros and cell phones to be placed there.

Additionally, it has frameless doors that are easy to remove. However, the long side windows allow more wind noise into the cabin and can be annoying in the weather. The four-door variant with the extended wheelbase has room to accommodate all four doors.

Although most of the additional length is accumulated in the cargo area, which is 50 percent longer than on the two-door variant, the rear seat on the four-door variant is centrally positioned for a third rear passenger and offers more rear legroom.

Infotainment

Embedded in the center of the Bronco’s dash, Ford’s latest Sync 4 in-dash software powers a 12.0-inch touchscreen. This configuration enables over-the-air updates and wirelessly links to users’ smartphones and the cloud.

Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot are some of this system’s contemporary infotainment tools. Built-in navigation and more powerful B&O sound might also be desirable additions to this unit.

Tech

A 12.0-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is slated to be the main tech feature of the 2026 Bronco. A 12.0-inch gauge cluster display, USB connections in both row seats, and seven speakers are standard. A premium 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen system is also available.

First launched as an off-road SUV model in 2021, the Ford Bronco Black Diamond is positioned as an affordable but well-equipped trim level. However, it lives on as the optional Black Diamond Package; the Black Diamond trim level is eliminated with the arrival of the 2026 Ford Bronco as one of countless upgrades and revisions.   • One of the four trim levels from the 2026 Ford Bronco is the Black Diamond. It also takes on the Wildtrak, Everglades, and Heritage Limited Edition as The Blue Oval simplifies its model line, joining previous models. Ford is behind the times with the Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and the Toyota 4Runner hybrid. But may an electric Bronco ultimately come out in 2026? Adding an electric motor to the turbocharged 2.3-liter I-4 powerplant in a Bronco Hybrid would undoubtedly increase power and improve fuel economy. This Bronco could drive on electricity alone if it’s a plug-in hybrid.

The normal Bronco is great for off-roading, but some trails are so hard that even the Bronco Sasquatch can’t handle them. The Bronco Raptor is ready to handle those trails.

The Bronco Raptor has more than just a new engine. It also has new Fox Live Valve internal bypass shock absorbers, forged upper and cast lower front control arms, a Dana 50 Heavy Duty rear axle, and underbody protection in the form of skidplates and an upgraded differential cover, among many other changes.

The off-roader has massive 37-inch all-terrain tires that can be wrapped around rims with bead locks. The fender flares need to be extended to cover the extra 10 inches of track width.

2026 Ford Bronco Engine

The engines for the 2026 Bronco are likely to be the same as those for the 2025 Bronco.

The basic engine is a turbocharged 2.3-liter I-4 that makes 275 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque with regular petrol and 300 hp and 325 lb-ft with high-octane gas. You can get a 10-speed automatic or a 7-speed manual; either way, 4WD is standard.

Even so, the Bronco can pass through quite difficult terrain, and it’s not a Pony that can do just one trick.

After testing various Bronco variants, the twin-turbo V-6 model showed the fastest acceleration times. The Everglades Class with the turbo automatic takes 7.1 seconds; Wildtrak models using that engine and a 10-speed automatic hit 60 mph in 6.2 seconds.

It took between 7.3 and 7.9 seconds for Bronco models with this engine to go from 0 to 60 mph. Depending on how it’s set up, it gets about 16–20/17–21 mpg in the city and on the interstate.

You can also get the Bronco with a 2.7-liter V-6 engine with two turbos, making 315 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. If you use high-octane gas, it delivers 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. It can only be combined with the 10-speed automatic. This engine can go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.6 to 8.4 seconds. The fuel economy is roughly 17–18/17–20 mpg.
