New 2022 Ford Fusion Active Interior, Price and Release Date

Posted on

2022 Ford Fusion Active With sedan sales plummeting and SUV purchases skyrocketing, Ford is working to synthesize the two-vehicle segments by attaching the popular Fusion nameplate to an all-new station wagon.

While there aren’t many details about the next Ford model, it is expected to point to the Subaru Outback and the Buick Regal TourX.

That means the Fusion Active should have an all-wheel drive, plastic body cladding, and a high ride height.

There are also rumors that a hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain will be offered. We won’t have the full picture until Ford decides to reveal it, but here’s what we know so far about the 2022 Fusion Active.

As the Ford Fusion sedan nears the end of its useful life, the company is expected to replace its recognizable nameplate with a raised pickup.

While we wish it was called Fusion Active, we won’t know until Ford releases more details apart from the reports and spy photos we’ve seen up to now.

Ford Fusion Active: There is an unusual design in the cabin

Ford may have officially shut down Fusion in the United States last summer – in favor of more profitable SUVs and crossovers. However, that does not mean that is the end of the model.

Ford Fusion Active Release Date

In fact, reports of the emergence of a more robust crossover version of Fusion, allegedly called Fusion Active, have been blowing since early 2018.

And now, we have the chance to see the true appearance of the vehicle – even though it is still wrapped in camouflage all over the body.

This allegedly leaked image comes from a clothespins account on Instagram, showing the Fusion Active’s untimely sighting.

As seen in the leaked image above, Fusion Active carries the fascia of the familiar Blue Oval brand but with a bit of weight.

This camouflage fails to hide the narrow headlamps, although most of the details are still obscure.

Explore the other images in the upload above, so you can see the other details the crossover has from a different angle.

Given that the Ford Fusion Active is reportedly going to be a competitor to the Subaru Outback, a photo of the rear of the car shows the nature of its lifted wagon.

After all, Outback is basically a lifted version of the Subaru Legacy wagon, so we can see pretty much the same pattern here.

Interestingly, the above collection of leaked images also includes a shot of the Fusion Active’s cabin.

Here is something that is quite attention-grabbing, namely when the photo shows a large horizontal screen that stretches along the fascia.

While that is nothing new in the auto industry, we think this feature will be a topic of conversation among enthusiasts and future buyers alike.

We will most likely witness the official launch of the Ford Fusion Active crossover at some point in 2021.

Info is still very limited at this time. But we wouldn’t be surprised if the lifted wagon carries a hybrid powertrain, even a different name for the US and European markets.

2022 Ford Fusion Active Report

Selling station wagons in the SUV-mad the American auto market is a risky game for the manufacturer.

But once Ford kills the Fusion sedan later this year or early next year, an elevated version of the stigmatized yet highly practical type of vehicle will be as close as buyers will come to discovering the new family car on the Blue Oval. showroom. Enter the Ford Fusion Active.

Let’s look at the sales, shall we? 166,045 units were sold in 2019, up from 173,600 and 209,623 units in 2018 and 2017.

Previously, Ford sold more than 300,000 in the United States alone. As past commercial successes turned into minor flaws, Fusion along with Lincoln MKZ and even full-size Continental are no longer in production at the time of writing.

Don’t worry though, because the Fusion will return in 2022 as the 2022 model year as a rival Subaru Outback pickup with four-wheel drive and jack suspension.

Codenamed Blue Oval’s CD542, the Fusion Active’s rear suspension will consist of leaf springs rather than the more modern spools.

It may seem like a drop in grade at first glance, but don’t forget that the sheets are heavier than the rolls.

Heavier full-size pickup trucks use them, and the Maverick unibody pickup is likely to borrow this suspension design to challenge the Hyundai Santa Cruz and Volkswagen Tarok.

The question is, what would the Fusion look like if Ford kept the sedan option? Kleber Silva offers the answer to this question under Peugeot-like LED signatures for speculative looks, Jaguar-style headlights, and taillights that borrow some from the Explorer at the front.

The Brazilian pixel artist did wonders with the design of the removable door handles as well as the exhaust and window sills.

2022 Ford Fusion Sedan

Ford Fusion 2022 Sedan While it’s true that Ford is no longer producing the Fusion sedan, the healthy and durable car in the ranking of our top 10 midsize sedans, the name will live on in a new body style that we’d better define as a wagon. . from Ford and only very well-camouflaged photos of the test car, we can only give a reasonable guess as to what you can expect from the next Fusion.

In a Subaru Outback feel, the new Fusion looks like an elevated station wagon, but with some styling cues taken from the Mustang MachE. Ford could also call it the Fusion Active, which is the company’s way of presenting a more active lifestyle version of the vehicles it sells in Europe.

Engines are also unknown but, with a wide selection of turbocharged and hybrid four- and six-cylinder engines as well as hybrids, it’s safe to say that the new Fusion will have something of Ford parts. version with wheels and front-wheel drive.

Ford Fusion 2022 Interior and Exterior Design

Ford Fusion 2022 Sedan interior design, passenger space, and cargo volume are a mystery. We expect the design to reflect newer Ford products such as the Mach-E Mustang all-electric crossover and mid-size Explorer SUV.

The model offers an all-digital meter cluster, a vertically oriented center display, and versatile in-cabinet storage.

We also expect the Fusion Active to provide comfortable rear seats and plenty of cargo space to compete with the Outback and Regal TourX.

The latest version of the Ford Sync infotainment system should be included with the upcoming Fusion Active.

We expect touchscreens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to be standard or optional. Additionally, the built-in navigation and Wi-Fi hotspot will likely be on the list of options. Ford usually also offers an upgraded audio system.

The Fusion cockpit features a fully digital meter cluster, a display mounted vertically above the dashboard, and physical buttons offering redundant control options.

With a comfortable seat for five adults, the Fusion Active should offer ample head and legroom at the front and back.

The gas-powered Fusion holds as much cargo as most competitors, but the hybrid and plug-in-hybrid models sacrifice a lot of space for their battery packs, which are in the trunk.

Ford Fusion Active 2022 Spy Photo

Ford engineers have been seen with a prototype for the high-drive mid-size hatchback. It’s a soft-roader type, designed to challenge high-riding carriages like the previous Subaru Outback and Buick Regal TourX, although the Ford roof is tilted more than you might find on the alternative.

A debut is expected later this year, which means we should see it arrive as a 2022 model.

Although it cannot be confirmed yet, the soft-roader is considered to be a direct replacement for the Ford Fusion sedan which retired after 2020.

As a result, the Mustang is now the only vehicle that is not an SUV, pickup truck, or pickup truck. van in the Ford North America line.

There are rumors Ford plans to retain the Fusion name or variations thereof, so don’t be surprised if the soft-roader ends up being labeled something like Fusion Active.

The term Active is what Ford uses for soft-land vehicles it sells overseas, such as the Fiesta Active and Focus Active. Ford had planned to import Focus Active from China, but the recent trade war put a stop to that.

For the previous test mule, engineers used a flexible body borrowed from a Focus Wagon sold overseas to cover the underside.

The basics are considered the newest version of Ford’s CD4 platform for mid-size cars, the current version that supports Fusion.

This means there is potential for front and all-wheel drive, as well as plug-in hybrid powertrains.

An alternative could be an expanded version of the compact C2 platform that debuted a few years ago on Focus which was sold overseas.

This may explain why engineers used the stretched Focus Wagon body for the test mule instead of the larger, Fusion-based Mondeo Wagon body also sold overseas.

There is no interior image but there are rumors that a large screen spanning the width of the dashboard could be offered in several markets, including potentially here in the United States.

We also don’t know what’s going on in the powertrain department, but it’s likely offering turbocharged 4 and 6-cylinder engines. As noted above, plug-in hybrids are also possible.

Note, while the Fusion sedan leaves our market, it remains for sale elsewhere. An update was just introduced which makes the sedan receive a 12.8-inch portrait style that looks similar to the one on the Mach-E Mustang.

2022 Fusion Active Engine

Without any official details about the engines and transmission options that will be available on the Fusion Active, we can only speculate about the possibilities.

One thing we can almost guarantee is that all-wheel drive will be offered.

2022 Ford Fusion Hybrid

There are also rumors that Ford will offer a hybrid and plug-in-hybrid powertrain on the wagon. The two powered settings can be the same or similar to those that drive the Escape’s compact crossover.

That means a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors.

The Fusion Active can also inherit the Escape’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic transmission, which uses only 250-hp turbocharged petrol.

We won’t know anything about the wagon’s performance or how to drive it until we can get behind the wheel.

As we don’t have any information about which powertrains will be available on Fusion Active, we have nothing to report about fuel economy ratings.

We’ll update this section once the EPA estimates are released, and we’ll eventually test those numbers on our real-world highway routes.

Being a station wagon, the Ford Fusion Active 2022 will likely use a derivative of the Ford Escape powertrain.

As such, the Fusion Active 2022 may have three engine options under the hood – the standard 181-hp 1.5-liter inline-4, 250 hp 2.0-liter turbo-four, and a 200 hp hybrid powertrain incorporating a 2.5-liter inline. -4 engines and one electric motor.

The petrol engine is expected to be paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. Just like the Escape plug-in hybrid model, the possibilities for a Fusion Active plug-in hybrid model are inevitable.

Reportedly, the Fusion Active has used the stretched Fusion wagon body sold outside America, to cover the underside.

Mondeo is the name Fusion uses today outside of North America. There are two possible platforms for the 2022 Fusion Active.

First, Ford’s CD4 platform for mid-size cars made its debut on the current Fusion or C2 compact platform that made its debut last year in the latest Focus.

The Ford Fusion Active 2022 will have an all-wheel drive. The Fusion Active’s powertrain is fiercely competitive and easily beats the Subaru Outback crossover.

Buick Regal TourX and Volvo V60 are premium brands where Ford’s 250 hp 2.0-liter turbo-four will provide a cheaper alternative.

2022 Ford Fusion Active: Ford Fusion 2022 Price

2022 Ford Fusion Price, With sales of its Fusion sedans slowing down, the Ford lineup increasingly features more crossovers and trucks.

The entry of the new Fusion Active crossover or station wagon will prove not only luck for the carmaker but also for buyers.

Rivaling Outback, and Regal TourX, Fusion Active is a high-value package with more advanced features.

Unlike the more premium Audi A4 Allroad and Volvo V60, the upscale Fusion Active 2022 model offers ample luxury at a fraction of the price. Overall, it’s worth waiting for Fusion Active.

We can only guess at the starting price of Fusion Active. It makes sense that it will cost about the same as the Outback and Regal TourX, which currently start at around $ 28,000 and $ 30,000.

While we don’t know what trim levels the lineup will fill, we think it will harmonize with other Ford models. Prices should range from $ 30,000 to $ 40,000 when Active hits dealerships next year.
