2026 Ford Super Duty is the best car for anyone who needs to tow, haul, or perform tasks that require the most assistance. It’s a no-brainer.
The Ford Super Duty 2026 is a dependable heavy-duty workhorse that has competed with the Chevrolet Silverado HD and Ram HD for decades, all fighting for space in the profitable HD work truck market.
In the end, the consumer wins this fight since companies are always trying to improve their products. That implies the 2026 Ford Super Duty will be a tough truck with many cab and bed options. It will also have two gasoline engines and the strong Power Stroke diesel V-8 in two trim levels, reaching a maximum of 500 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque.
2026 Ford Super Duty Reviews
The new Ford Super Duty for 2026 will come in F-250, F-350, and F-450 versions. The strongest version can tow up to 40,000 pounds and carry 8,000 pounds of cargo. If that sounds good, but you want to make the working a bit more pleasant, you may choose from a number of extras, such a two-tone leather interior and comfy Max Recline seats that let you take a little nap while the boss isn’t around.
This model also has a center console that can be turned into a table, an inbuilt generator that gives you electricity whenever and wherever you need it, and a number of safety and trailer aid systems that make sure everything goes well. The Ford Super Duty is one of our favorite trucks in its class, thus it made the Editors’ Choice list for 2026.
In some configurations, the F-250 can tow up to 22,000 pounds, but only with one of the Power Stroke diesel engine types. With the conventional cab, the fifth-wheel and gooseneck can tow 22,300 and 23,000 pounds, respectively. The capacities of SuperCab and crew-cab are a little lower.
This is enough for most boats and trailers that people desire to tow, as you might anticipate. The F-250 also has some cool towing and hauling tech features, such as Onboard Scale with Smart Hitch (which tells you how much the cargo and trailer tongue weigh), Pro Trailer Hitch Assist (which automatically guides the truck into position for easy hookup), and Turn Signal View (which shows a side camera view of the truck and trailer when you use the turn signal).
Upgrade to the 2026 F-250 Super Duty if the F-150’s towing and payload capacities don’t match your needs or if you want a Power Stroke diesel engine. The F-250 has more than enough power for most truck owners. It is one step down from the F-350, which has a dual rear-wheel drive (DRW or dually) setup.
The F-250 is a tough heavy-duty truck because it has four powerful engines that give it the best performance in its class. It also has a lot of useful towing and hauling technology, like a new optional blind spot monitor that covers trailers and a tire pressure monitoring system for trailers. It also comes in many trim levels, from the basic XL to the very high-end Platinum.
- The cabin is big and comfortable.
- Great numbers for towing and moving
- There are many technologies that can help in retrieval and transport.
- Most grades come with four-wheel drive as standard.
What’s New
For 2026, Ford has made small changes and rearranged options across its portfolio. The XLT and Lariat now come with a 6.8-liter V-8 gas engine and a 10-speed transmission as standard. The King Ranch and Platinum can now choose to have the 2-kW Pro Power Onboard arrangement. The King Ranch can now get the Onboard Scale and Smart Hitch systems. The XL trim can also choose to have a trailer brake controller.
The XL and XLT SRW with an 8-foot box are the only ones that can be configured as Super Cabs. Individual tire pressure monitoring for the trailer and the option to add more cameras for a better view are two ways that towing technology is getting better.
The redesigned Platinum trim has a Black Onyx cabin with Platinum Blue highlights and black trim on the outside. The Lariat gets new upholstery. The new Platinum Plus package comes with chrome accents and exclusive leather upholstery and color choices. Lastly, Avalanche and Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat are two new hues that have been added.
The Platinum Plus package takes the place of the top Limited variation.
More choices make it easier to take money out. The Ford Pro Vehicle Integration System 2.0 makes it easy to install aftermarket parts.
This is part of the fourth generation F Series Super Duty that came out in 2023.
2026 Ford Super Duty Refresh
The new Platinum Plus package is available for the first time on the 2026 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, and F-450. This package is more than simply the top trim level of the Super Duty lineup.
The customer experience includes personalized services like being able to SMS product specialists directly, take personal virtual tours to learn about vehicle features, and automatically move up to Blue Tier status in the FordPass Rewards program.
The 2026 Ford Super Duty Lariat 4×4 crew cab has FX4 off-road wheels and a powerful 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine that shakes the rear tires when you turn or speed up on divided roads.
2026 Ford Super Duty Interior
The 2026 Ford Super Duty’s interior is a clear improvement over the previous-generation Super Duty. While the interior hasn’t completely changed, minor changes to the control layout make everything easier to see and reach. There are still dedicated controls for the radio and air conditioning settings, making it easy to adjust the temperature without taking your eyes off the road.
Some controls are connected to the touchscreen, but the system is responsive and the menus are well-organized. Overall, understanding where each component is located and how its features work is very easy.
The cabin is also spacious, enough to accommodate a core NBA player. Headroom, legroom, and shoulder room should be a breeze in either row of seats. The high cabin height makes ingress and egress challenging, even with our King Ranch’s standard folding running boards.
However, once you’re inside, adjustable pedals and good travel for the seat and steering wheel make it easy to find a comfortable driving position.
Outward visibility is also solid, at least for a heavy-duty truck. There are blind spots, but most models are equipped with a range of sensors and cameras to improve visibility. Ford even offers cameras and parking sensors that operate when the rear doors are open, for example, when transporting a larger load. Available surround-view cameras and an additional camera for the trailer further assist the driver.
Comfort
Today’s pickup truck comfort is significantly better than it was a few years ago. While we wouldn’t call it luxurious or luxurious, the F-250, especially in higher trims like our King Ranch test vehicle, is comfortable on the highway, even on long trips. The seats are a bit flat, but we found them well-padded and well-cushioned. We didn’t experience any back or butt pain on long trips. The same is true in the rear, with a flat but comfortable bench that folds down for increased cargo space. The ride is a bit firm, but in line with what we expect in this class.
The climate control system is cold, and the heated seats heat up quickly. Granted, no one really does this like American automakers. The climate control controls are a bit disappointing, as some settings and information (like the cabin temperature) are located on the touchscreen, but that’s our only major complaint.
Our effective 2026 Ford Super Duty F-250 is quite impressive on the road. Yes, there is a bit of diesel engine noise, but subtle and not so loud that you can’t hold a conversation. Wind and road noise is quite muffled, although the tires are quite noisy at highway speeds.
Technology
The latest Super Duty is equipped with advanced technology and several powerful driver assistance features. Nearly every variant comes standard with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Navigation works well, with clear, easy-to-read maps and turn-by-turn directions displayed on the digital instrument panel and head-up display.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all models, and there are plenty of USB ports for charging. Some models also come with a pair of standard 120-volt household outlets. Our King Ranch model was equipped with a superb B&O audio system, among the best we’ve ever experienced in a pickup truck.
A wide range of driver-assistance features are available for the F-250, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, a surround-view camera system, and automatic emergency braking. All are easy to use and work well in practice.
Adaptive Cruise control mode is capable of holding a safe distance and can stop the vehicle completely, and we did not find any reading errors in the emergency braking system or collision warning.
2026 Ford Super Duty Exterior
With its large, square grille and C-clamp-like side marker lights, the Super Duty looks imposing while still looking like its F-150 sibling. While these trucks are big, the longest F-150 is still a few inches shorter than the shortest Super Duty; at 266.2 inches (over 22 feet), the longest Super Duty is 38 inches longer than the longest F-150. Therefore, knowing your garage dimensions is crucial.
The Regular Cab only comes with an 8-foot bed, but the F-450 can also add a dually setup to this combination. SuperCab and Crew Cab models come with either a long bed or a 6-3/4-foot bed. All F-250 models have a single-rear-wheel drive layout, and the F-350 adds a dual-rear-wheel drive option.
All F-450 trucks use dually-drive systems. Wheel and grille designs vary by trim. Additionally, Ford offers the Tremor Off-Road package on XLT and higher trims. This package adds a raised suspension, skid plates, 35-inch off-road tires, 18-inch black wheels, and a distinctive front fascia.
2026 Ford Super Duty Engine
The standard XL Super Duty trim features a standard 6.8-liter V-8 engine with 400 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. A more powerful 7.3-liter V-8 with 430 hp and 485 lb-ft of torque is also available; this engine is standard on the XLT and above.
Of course, every F-250, F-350, and F-450 can be equipped with the Super Duty’s flagship engine: the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8. This gasoline-powered engine produces 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque, or 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque, as both low- and high-power versions are available.
A reliable 10-speed automatic transmission handles gear changes for each configuration, and customers can choose between a single or dual rear axle. Super Duty also offers an off-road package called Tremor that adds a lift kit and more rugged tires, among other road-ready enhancements.
This heavy-duty Ford performs as expected of a large truck capable of towing loads up to 19 tons. When empty, the ride is stiff and bouncy, but that sensation subsides when the truck bed is fully loaded or a trailer is attached. Even the most luxurious trim levels out wind and road noise better.
The truck we drove benefited from a firm, responsive brake pedal, and the steering was easy to control at low speeds and in tight spaces that make maneuvering even the longest models difficult.
Payload
As you might expect from a heavy-duty pickup truck, the F-250’s payload and towing ratings are excellent. Its maximum payload capacity is estimated at over 4,200 pounds (standard cab with the standard V8 gasoline engine), although most configurations are rated between 3,000 and 4,000 pounds. Towing capacity is up to 22,000 pounds with a conventional trailer or 23,000 pounds with a gooseneck trailer. Most configurations are rated between 14,000 and 20,000 pounds. All of these figures are impressive for its class, although they are consistently competitive among pickup trucks in its class.
The cargo and storage space inside the cabin is equally robust. There are numerous storage compartments and drawers for small items like sunglasses, cell phones, and more. Everywhere you look, there’s a small pocket of some kind.
We were particularly impressed with the cup holders. There are plenty, and the ones in front are large enough to accommodate a large water bottle. The Ford doesn’t have a folding panel like the Ram to create a flat cargo floor in the rear, but the seats can still be folded down to open up a substantial amount of storage space inside the cabin.
The split-folding rear seats allow you to fit passengers in the back as well, provided you don’t need all the space. Installing the car seat should be fairly easy, although the height of the truck may be an issue for some.
Performance
The 2026 Ford Super Duty F-250 we tested was powered by a high-horsepower 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8. With a reported 1,200 lb-ft of torque, the F-250 isn’t short on power. It sprinted to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, slightly slower than the previous F-250 we tested, but still competitive in its class.
The engine is smooth, and the 10-speed transmission never feels mis-shifted or out of gear. Even when towing or hauling, we don’t think the F-250 will struggle or be overwhelmed.
The F-250’s steering and handling are standard for a heavy-duty pickup, meaning they’re soft and somewhat jerky. The steering wheel is easy to turn, but the truck isn’t very responsive when turning. You’ll have to turn the steering wheel frequently to control the truck in a parking lot, for example. The F-250 does lean in corners, but it’s stable enough to avoid jarring on narrow roads.
2026 Ford Super Duty Models
Platinum Plus
Platinum Plus is designed to “elevate the Super Duty experience with premium features,” Ford says. Standard with Platinum Plus is an exclusive two-tone Smoked Truffle interior with perforated Venetian leather upholstery and Platinum Blue French stitching. The exterior features a satin-finish grille with bright chrome inserts and custom wheels.
However, Ford hopes “enhanced ownership benefits and personalized service” will attract more customers looking to upgrade their next vehicle to tow a speedboat, luxury fifth wheel, or multi-horse trailer.
The personalized service includes a 25% discount on Ford accessories, personalized text messaging with a product expert, a private virtual tour explaining vehicle features, and an automatic upgrade to Blue Tier status in the FordPass Rewards program. A Platinum Plus gift box made from cedar is also available.
At a media event this week in Dearborn, Ford unveiled the 2026 F-350 Platinum Plus with the FX4 off-road package, with a starting price of $107,770. The interior is luxurious, with microsuede roof lining, matte wood inserts on the doors and center armrest, quilted leather seats, and a combination lock box under the center armrest.
All Platinum Plus trucks are equipped with a high-performance 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel engine with 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque. This flagship engine, when added as an option on other trims, carries a staggering $12,995.
But with all that torque, the Super Duty can tow up to 30,000 pounds with a conventional towbar, 35,000 pounds with a fifth-wheel towbar, and up to 40,000 pounds with a gooseneck (F-450 regular cab only).
The Platinum Plus package is a $6,500 option and is available only on Platinum trim crew cab Super Duty trucks. Platinum Plus pricing starts at $97,360 for the F-250, $98,860 for the F-350, and $103,535 for the F-450.
Other Super Duty engine options are available: a 6.8-liter pushrod V8 gasoline engine (405 hp and 445 lb-ft, standard on XL, XLT, and Lariat), a 7.3-liter pushrod V8 gasoline engine (430 hp and 485 lb-ft, standard on King Ranch and Platinum), and a Power Stroke diesel engine (optional on all trims in two states of tune). All engines are mated to a heavy-duty 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission.
Lariat FX4
On this week’s show, we got a chance to drive a 2026 Super Duty Lariat 4×4 crew cab with FX4 off-road wheels and a high-horsepower 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine that loves to vibrate the rear tires when cornering and accelerating on divided highways.
Without the Platinum Plus package, the caramel and black two-tone interior is more work-oriented and less visually appealing than the Smoked Truffle perforated Venetian Leather, but still classy for a pickup.
The truck is comfortable, quiet, and enjoyable to drive, but there are two odd issues worth mentioning.
The center armrest on this Lariat trim consists of a hard, flat plastic work surface that’s perfect for signing documents or eating lunch while working, and can be slid forward, almost reaching the instrument panel.
However, the hard surface isn’t comfortable for resting your elbows. There’s also a lever that allows you to rotate the work surface, but only a few inches to the left, which seems pointless. A padded armrest is available—and would be more comfortable while driving.
Another issue is the second-row dual-port cup holders, which retract from the base of the center armrest between the two front seats. The second-row floor is covered in a thick rubber mat, which is very effective in keeping the interior clean, but the mat is too thick to allow the cup holders to sit flush. Drinks can spill.
2026 Ford F350 Super Duty Regular Cab
The top-of-the-line Limited trim has been discontinued. However, this is part of a minor trim level overhaul, as there is now a new Platinum Plus package for the Platinum trim. As part of this update, the Platinum trim now includes a Black Onyx cabin with Platinum Blue accents, body-color door handles, and a black grille and tailgate graphics. The Platinum Plus package, which requires the turbodiesel engine, adds a satin-finish grille and other exterior accents, a Smoked Truffle interior, and various luxury features. This trim is now essentially the top-of-the-line trim level.
Two new paint colors, Avalanche and Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, are available for the XLT and higher trim levels. Additionally, a new Trailer Technology package includes tire pressure monitoring for the trailer tires, blind-spot warning that takes the trailer into account, and an additional camera.
The 2026 Ford F350 Super Duty Regular Cab starts at $48,690, while the top-of-the-line F350 Super Duty Regular Cab XLT starts at $54,695. However, Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests prices $1,461 to $1,904 lower than the suggested retail price, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.
The best-selling combination in the Super Duty line is the 4-wheel-drive Crew Cab Lariat, followed by the 4-wheel-drive Crew Cab XL.
While the Super Duty starts at $47,295, the Ram HD starts at $47,245, the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD starts at $46,395, and the GMC Sierra HD starts at $48,295.
Before purchasing a new Super Duty truck, check KBB.com’s Fair Purchase Price to see what others in your area are paying. Ford’s Super Duty lineup tends to have a resale value advantage over its main competitors. Keep in mind that the more money you get when you sell or trade in your vehicle, the larger your down payment will be on your next vehicle.

This optional 2-kilowatt electrical system with household-type outlets allows the Super Duty to power lighting systems, appliances, or tailgate parties. - Trailer Navigation:
When this optional system plans a route, it takes into account the size and weight of the trailer to avoid low bridges and sharp turns if necessary. - Built-in Scales:
Using a smartphone app or smart taillights, this option will let drivers know whether their potential load is within acceptable weight limits. - Trailer Theft Alert:
This feature will alert you via the FordPass app if someone tries to unhook the trailer while the truck is locked. - Ford Upfit and Ford Pro:
If you want to add a snowplow, crane, or backhoe to your Super Duty, Ford has an upgrade program that will install this equipment and integrate its controls into the center display with dedicated buttons. Ford Pros can add a special package that includes vehicle management software, mobile services, and more.
2026 Ford Super Duty MPG
The EPA doesn’t require heavy-duty trucks like the Super Duty to have EPA-certified fuel economy estimates. This also applies to trucks from Chevy, GMC, and Ram. With our high-powered V8 diesel, we recorded fuel economy of about 14.5 mpg in typical city driving. That’s roughly the same as what we’ve seen in competitors, though significantly worse than what we’ve seen in light trucks like Ford’s F-150.
2026 Ford Super Duty Competitors
There aren’t many alternatives to the F-250 Super Duty. The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD also offer advanced towing technology and impressive towing and payload capacities, but the Super Duty still outperforms both trucks.
If you don’t need the exorbitant towing and payload capacities of the F-250 or GM’s heavy-duty trucks, the Ram 2500 is a compelling choice, offering the best interior and most comfortable ride in the HD pickup class. Still unsure if the F-250 is right for you? Our test team’s full review in the Edmunds Expert Ratings below will help you decide.
2026 Ford Super Duty Security
Trucks in this class typically don’t undergo the same crash testing as standard vehicles. However, safety remains a top priority in the Super Duty. On standard models, we recommend adding the $730 Driver Assist package, which adds forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and automatic high beams.
Other active safety and driver-assist features available for the Super Duty lineup include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane-centering features, a 360-degree camera system, and a blind-spot monitoring system that covers the entire length of any trailer that may be connected.
2026 Ford Super Duty Price
The 2026 Super Duty lineup follows the same trim level structure as the previous model. We recommend the F-250 version with a roomy crew cab, standard 7-foot cargo bed, and single rear axle. Pair it with the mid-range Lariat trim, which we believe offers the best combination of comfort and affordability.
To maximize its potential, we recommend the high-powered Power Stroke diesel engine; it does come at a significant additional cost, but if you want serious towing and hauling, it’s hard to beat.
- Price Range: $49,090 – $78,065
Verdict
The new 2026 Ford Super Duty is a highly capable vehicle for heavy-duty work. Its towing and payload capacities surpass those of its GM and Ram rivals, and its advanced interior features enhance productivity. It’s also comfortable, fairly quiet, and easy to drive. However, if capability and class are your priority, be prepared to pay more for higher-spec models, which can cost thousands of dollars.
