2022 Ford Escape There is no doubt about that. The Ford Escape 2022 is an excellent crossover that will win praise from many buyers, which will prove that every dollar has been well spent.
Ford has expanded the availability of hybrid powertrains to the SE and SEL trims for 2021; now standard on the highest specification Titanium models. Elsewhere, adaptive cruise control and road sign recognition features join the optional Co-Pilot360 Plus package; hands-free power lift doors and memory settings for the driver’s seat and exterior mirrors are now part of the Technology package; and a power-adjustable 10-way driver seat, keyless keypad and LED exterior lighting are now on the feature list in the Comfort package.
The new 19-inch wheel design is optional on the Titanium model, and the Trailer Tow Class II package is now available on the Escapes with the optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The Ford Escape has earned a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a Top Safety Choice award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Ford offers a suite of driver assistance features, which it calls the Co-Pilot360, as standard on every Escape model. Key security features include:

But you’ll quickly see that there is something for every passenger too.
The new-look is sportier, with 19-inch rims that are exposed extraordinarily. The black rims are great at accentuating these high-performance tires. You’ll also notice a reduction in the use of dark colors on the exterior, as well as sewn floor mats and two-tone seat covers in the interior, among many other stylistic adjustments.
The cabin of The Escape, although luxuriously styled and spacious for passengers in the front and rear seats, has several rental plastic panels, including panels on the doors and bottom center console.
High-textured fabric upholstery is standard, while higher trim levels receive a reassuring faux leather seating surface or genuine leather in top-spec Titanium.
Behind the rear seat of the Escape is ample cargo space that provides space for eight carry-on cases, which binds its rival, the Chevrolet Equinox. We installed 21 cases with the Escape’s rear seats folded, but the Equinox accommodates two more.
While the base S model comes with a 4.2-inch radio screen and AM / FM radio for sole entertainment, the SE trim levels and above get a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Ford’s latest Sync 3 infotainment interface and capabilities. Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.
A smartphone app provides remote access to vehicle telematics and remote starting on all Escape models, but the most connected and high-tech Escape is the Titanium model, which comes standard with the B&O Play 10-speaker audio system, dashboard navigation, and meter display. 12.3-inch digital. 2022 Ford Escape Engine
It will transport passengers safely to their jobs in the city or family on a quest for discovery to their wild destination. The turbo engine of the Ford Escape is just begging for kilometers without anyone getting in their way.
In terms of performance on the road, the Ford Escape 2022 has it all above its competitors. Sturdy and agile, the sports vehicle that everyone has been waiting for. This proud ride offers a sensation of power and pure pleasure to anyone lucky enough to get behind the wheel.
The Escape 2021 offers a wide variety of powertrains, starting with the 181 hp 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder that can be had with front-wheel drive or all. The triple turbo engine, while somewhat grumbling and unreliable, provided adequate acceleration and managed to motivate the all-wheel-drive Escape SE to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds on our test track.

Upgrading to a 250-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is an attractive option and powerful enough to score a result of 5.7 seconds in the same zero-to-60-mph test. The two petrol engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
To overcome new competition in the form of the hybrid Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 Prime, Ford is also offering two Escape hybrids – one of which is plug-in – and the powertrains consist of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors combined to produce the 221- hp.
The plug-in hybrid model will carry a 14.4 kWh battery – which is good enough for an EPA – estimated 37 miles of electric-only driving. When we have the opportunity to test plug-in models and learn more about the plug-in hybrid capabilities, we will update this story in more detail.
2022 Ford Escape MPG
According to the EPA, the turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder model with front-wheel drive will offer the highest estimated fuel economy among the nonhybrid Escape models. It’s rated for 27 mpg city, 33 mpg highway and a combined 30 mpg; adding all-wheel drive would bring those numbers down to 26 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and a combined 28 mpg.
We tested an all-wheel-drive model with a three-cylinder turbo and managed to deliver an impressive 35 mpg over the fuel-efficient 200-mile highway route. Although the larger, all-wheel-drive 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine scored a combined 23 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 26 mpg, we ended up with 32-mpg highway results in our tests.
For those looking for the most efficient Escape, look no further than the plug-in hybrid model, which delivers a fuel economy rating as high as a city of 44 mpg.

The best value in the lineup is the mid-range SEL trim with front-wheel drive. The SEL adds many conveniences that compact SUV buyers will appreciate, including rear parking sensors, memory settings for the driver’s seat and exterior mirrors, faux leather upholstery, remote-start feature, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a hands-free power liftgate, fog lamps, and roof rack side rails.
